Jackie Layton has been reading as long as she can remember. Going to the library was one of her favorite adventures when she was growing up. When she got older, she began to imagine the stories she’d write one day. Marriage, raising two sons, and working as a pharmacist came first though. Jackie has lived in Kentucky, Georgia, and South Carolina. Two of Jackie’s dreams were to become a published author and to live at the beach. In 2016, her husband took a job in Pawleys Island, SC, and the dream became a reality. With the move, Jackie shifted from full-time pharmacist to part-time. This allowed her more time to focus on writing.
When she’s not writing, you may find Jackie walking with her husband on the beach and collecting shells. She also learned to paddleboard on the creek in 2025. It may not be pretty, but she's doing it.

Clutter Free
This is a good beginning to what I hope is a long running series. The mystery was nicely done with fast-pacing and well-written narrative. The characters were developed enough to keep me interesting in the role they played and I enjoyed following the crumbs the author planted for us to solve the puzzle.

Bite the Dust
This was the first book I’ve read by Jackie Layton, but it won’t be the last. It drew me in from the first page, and I resented the times I had to put it down. No soggy middle here. Strong plot, likable characters, and beautiful writing will have you reaching for the next book in the series.

I recently returned from a trip to Waco, Texas. While there, I visited the Hewitt Public Library.
The library offered children's activities, interactive areas, comfy couches and chairs, and quiet rooms. The staff was so nice, and I look forward to visiting them again on my next trip to Waco.
